Kade's 6th Birthday!

I can't believe my baby is six already. Time is really flying by way too fast these days. On Kade's actual birthday, we told him that we would take him out to eat in College Station and then take him to pick out a birthday gift after dinner. It was totally up to him where he wanted to go eat, and he chose Red Lobster. Nana Rau decided to come along with us to help celebrate his birthday. That made the night all the more perfect for him. When we got to Red Lobster, I told the waitress that it was his birthday, and she said that they would do something "special" for him. Before they brought us our food, the waitress took Kade and Brady up to the lobster tank where they got to pet and hold the lobsters. Brady wasn't so sure about holding the lobster at first, but once he realized they couldn't use their "snappers" he was o.k. with it. Before we left, a group of waiters and waitresses came to the table, sang "Happy Birthday" to him, and gave him a dessert. He was surprised and quite shy. After dinner, we went to Target where he picked out a DSi and a new game for his birthday.

Kade and his good buddy Eric Aschenbeck had a birthday party together at Mount Aggie in College Station. The boys invited some of their best friends from school to come celebrate with them. They all ended up having a blast. Mount Aggie is basically a fake snowhill that you can sled down, so we ended up doing a winter snow theme for their party. Happy Birthday Kade! We love you more than you'll ever know. We wish you many, many more birthdays to come.

Dewberry Farms!

Well, as usual, I am playing catch-up on my blogging. Sooooo, we are going to back track all the way to October. We decided to head to Dewberry Farms one Sunday afternoon with the Maurer Family for a little "family fun." With the exception of fighting quite a large crowd and the weather being a little on the warm side, we had a great time. The kids really enjoyed being there watching the pig races, bouncing on the big "bouncing things," and taking an old fashioned wagon ride out to the pumpkin patch where they got to walk out and pick their own pumpkin. Before the day was over, we had six tired and rather grouchy kiddos on our hands. That was our cue that it was time to head for home. No matter the conditions, you can always have a great time when you're in good company; so thank you Maurer's for a fun day.

Homecoming Parade 2010!

Back in October, yes I am that behind with my posts, we took the boys to the Homecoming parade downtown Brenham. Kade and Brady really wanted to go, not because they were excited to see all the football players, cheerleaders, band, baseball players, etc., but because they wanted to fill up a bag with candy that they knew they would be throwing from the different floats. Needless to say, they filled up the bag. We ended up sitting with the Maurer's and the Siemsglusz's at the parade so all the kids got to play, watch the parade, and catch candy together. Nate wasn't sure what the heck was going on. He just spent the entire time trying to soak it all in.

An Afternoon of Crow Hunting!

Dane and the boys wanted to get out of the house and do some kind of hunting a while back, so Dane decided to try out his crow call. They ended up with a few and that was enough for Kade and Brady. Brady can't seem to get enough of hunting these days, so it wouldn't have mattered if they shot 2 or 200. It looks like Dane will have his hands full in a few years with two upcoming hunters on his hands.

6 Months Old and Growing!

Nate was six months old back on October 5th. At Nate's six month check-up, he weighed 16lbs. 13oz. and was 26 inches in length. Dr. Baker said the he is right in the middle and exactly where he needs to be at this point. He had to get four shots and an oral immunization. He did great. The first two shots didn't seem to phase him, but the last two got his attention and he let everyone know it. However, the crying fit lasted as long as it took me to pick him, and then he was all smiles and flirting again. I have to say that Nate is the happiest of my three boys. He always has a smile on his face, even when he is grumpy. His smile can melt anyone's heart.
At six months of age, Nate is:
*sitting up all by himself
*crawling everywhere now
*getting pretty good at drinking out of a sippy cup
*reaching for you when you go to pick him up
*loves his blankie; can't go anywhere without it
*trying to pull up on things; he gets up on his knees, but can't get past that point

Fair Festivities!

This year we split the fair up into a few days to get to see and do everything. The weekend before the fair actually started, Dane and Cody Stelter entered the "Fair Cook-off." Contrast to their last cook-off, winning $500 for their ribs, they came up empty handed this time around. Nevertheless, we still had a great time. They boys decided to take an 8 second ride on the mechanical bull while hanging out at the cook-off. Brady, of course, was the first one to volunteer to ride. He walked up there all cocky, grabbed a glove, and hopped up on that bull. All was good until the bull started "bucking." Then he immediately wanted off. I guess I can stop worrying that he will grow up wanting to ride bulls. Kade loved it. He ended up riding two more times after that.

Later in the week, we went down to the fair to look at all the animals, check out the rodeo, and ride a few rides at the carnival. The kids had a good time. It was a great family outing.


The Saturday of the fair, Kade and Brady entered the "Little Hay Hauling" contest. Kaden Seeker was Kade's partner, and Markie Odom was Brady's partner. Kade and Kaden ended up getting second place and trophy. Markie and Brady got 5th place, which was really good considering there were 10 or 12 teams and they were one of the youngest. Maybe next year is their year for that trophy.

Belated Five Month Old Update!

As usual, I am way behind on my posts again. I never got around to doing a 5 month old post for Nate. So, I am going to back track a little. At 5 months old, Nate was:
*sitting up on his own with a little support from the boppie
*getting in the crawling position; rocking back and forth on his hands and knees
*eating baby food; we have tried all the fruits and veggies
*sitting up in the big bath tub chair
*loving when Mommy walks into the room; he's really becoming a "Mommy's Boy"

The six month post is right around the corner considering he's already 6 months old.
