WOW!!! Kade and the 7 Year Old Boys All-Star team won the District tournament in Sealy this year. It was a pretty special win considering this was the first year this group of boys could make All-Stars, and they were the first 7 year old team from Washington County to win it. I have to say this is a very special group of boys and parents. These boys worked so hard for two weeks of practice and went out on that field each game and played their hearts out as a TEAM. They worked so well together. It reminded me of my experience playing All-Stars when I was younger. I hope that Kade is able to grow up playing with this group of boys like I grew up playing with the same group of wonderful softball players. If they stick together, they are going to be an awesome and very talented group of baseball players. They will be unstoppable.
The boys entered the tournament winning all four of their pool play games. They breezed by Burleson County Nationals, Sealy, Bellville, and Waller. That put us in first place which gave us a bye in the first round of single elimination tournament play. As Mommy, I wasn't nervous at all during the pool play games, but once the bracket play started, my stomach was so knotted up. I guess just knowing it could be their last game made me so nervous. Our first bracket game was against Sealy, and a game it was. Sealy came out to play that night. Given that we had previously run ruled them in pool play, we came out a little too relaxed and thought we had this one in the bag. Boy were we wrong. It came down to the last inning and the last play barely winning 12-11. Our second bracket game was against Burleson County American. We ended up winning that one 18-12 which put us in the championship game against the only other undefeated team, LaGrange. We knew this would be the team to beat, and we came out ready to play shutting them down 11-3. Watching those boys celebrate their win after the game ended was PRICELESS!!! They were beyond excited. Thank you to all the amazing parents we got to spend the entire month of June with. You all made the experience all the more fun and special. Thank you to all the fans who showed up to support those boys. We never expected the fan crowd that showed up for their championship game. Such great memories made. Can't wait until next year. WHAT A RIDE!!!
