Fishing Buddies!

Dane and Kade entered a fishing tournament with Cody Stelter and his son Ian earlier this summer. Kade and Ian go to school together and have become really good friends. The boys had a fabulous day of fishing. The day started early and ended late. They each caught a stringer of bass and perch. Even though these two boys are best buddies, they are also quite the competitors with each other. All in all they had fun fishing day, and came home completely exhausted.

One on one time with Mom and Dad!!

Having more than one kid kind of limits your time that you get to spend with each one of them. Dane and I wanted to spend a day with just Kade. He was in need of a little one on one attention, so we took him out to eat for lunch and then to Horseshoe Junction for the afternoon. We had a great day. He really liked the bumper boats, race cars, and bowling, but his favorite thing was the deer hunting game in the arcade. We couldn't tear him away from it. This kind of thing is something we need to do more often with him. He is such a great kid, and sometimes we get so caught up in our busy schedules that we tend to forget how special our kids are to us. They're only little once. We are trying to enjoy every minute with them, especially while they're little and still want to be around us.

Potatoes, Potatoes & More Potatoes

Every year we grow a vegetable garden, and every year Dane adds a row or two. Over the years our garden has grown quite large. This year we managed to grow some good potatoes. The boys couldn't wait to dig them out. The said it was like digging for Easter Eggs. They had so much fun. Besides potatoes, we grew tomatoes, cucumbers, quite a variety of squash, corn, okra, beans, and onions. The boys take a huge interest in the garden. Kade likes to help plant the garden and pick it. Brady just likes picking it. It has really become a hobby for the whole family. We eat everything we grow, and I can the pickles and tomatoes. We also planted watermelons out in our hay patch this year, and boy did we grow watermelons; way more than we know what to do with. I am glad we have so many friends and family members to give them to. While our summer garden is almost done with, we'll be getting ready to plant our fall garden here in a few months. Let the fun begin!

Fun in Fredericksburg!

I know this post is kind of late, but I wanted to include it. A couple of weeks ago we went to Fredericksburg to visit the Klussmann's. The family celebrated Delores's 75th birthday by throwing her a surprise party, and boy was she surprised. We decided to stay the weekend on the Longbranch. The kids all had a blast. Dane's mom and dad, as well as the Hardy's, all went. Brady loved the jeep rides looking for deer and turkeys. Kade's favorite part was when he and Jenna got to walk in the tank and dip out catfish with the net. He thought that was coolest thing ever. They also enjoyed their nature walk looking for deer horns. It was good to get away with whole family for a few days. I don't think the kids fought once because there was always something new to do.

Swimming Lessons!

The boys finished up swimming lessons last week. This was Kade's third year of lessons with Miss Whitney, and he is a swimming machine. He loves the water. We call him our water bug. He did so great, and we are so proud of him. This was Brady's first year of swimming lessons with Miss Megan. I wasn't so sure how he would do since he is so headstrong, but he truly surprised us by listening to his teacher and doing everything she told him. He did very well. This was Whitney and Megan's last year to teach swimming lessons. We are going to miss them.

4th of July!

WOW! We had a great 4th of July weekend. We started the 4th off at the Round Top parade. We went with Aunt Lolo, Uncle Joe, Aunt Stacy, Uncle Trey, and cousins Jenna, Leah and Baby Luke. The kids all had a blast. Their favorite part was all the candy that was thrown out. After the parade, we headed out to the Green Door. Dane's family had a lunch out there. The kids were exhausted after lunch so we headed home for a nap. Later that evening we had the family over for burgers, chips and dips, and some good old watermelon. When it cooled down a little outside, we were off to Independence for some street dancing and fireworks. The boys loved the fireworks and Kade really enjoyed some dancing. What a great family outing!

My First Blog

Well, I have joined the wonderful world of blogging. I figured this is the closest I am ever going to get to scrapbooking anything for my kids. I want them to have something besides just photo albums to remember their childhood when they get older. Plus, it is a great way to keep friends and family updated on what's going on in our crazy world. I hope everyone enjoys. Kade and Brady are the center of our lives. Kade is a sensitive four year old who just wants to please you. He wants you to be proud of him. Brady, on the other hand, is just the opposite. He is going to do whatever he wants to whether you like it or not. He is my silly clown. Both boys love being outside playing baseball and fishing. Imagine that!
